11 am to 3 pm
The Phoenix of Gaza is a virtual reality project documenting life in Gaza through 360-degree filming completed over several years. The project began with the goal of showing the beauty and resilience of Palestinians living under occupation and siege & presenting Gaza outside the realm of death and destruction, only to become redefined by the genocidal war that began in 2023.
We will open the Phoenix of Gaza exhibit on the evening of Monday, November 2nd with a poetry reading by Fady Joudah and a lecture by the co-founders of the Phoenix of Gaza, Professors Ahlam Muhtaseb (CSU-SB) and Naim Aburaddi (Villanova). The lecture and reading will be followed by a reception with light refreshments.
On November 3rd & 4th, the public will be able to sign up for 30-minute slots to view videos and images on VR headsets at the exhibit. Walk-in spots will also be made available both days.
